Parents Taking Extreme Action In Response to Rising School Traffic

Picture

Buggy has been running for three years now (well, two and a half, if you consider the pandemic). But this year has for sure been the most eye-opening when it comes to determine what clients care about. Coming out of the pandemic, a subset of parents have reprioritized what they value in a school. Since traffic in Miami increased exponentially during with the rising population, parents and kids alike have been feeling the pressure. Children are forced to wake up earlier this year to beat the school traffic and arrive on time. Unfortunately, school’s bell schedules have either remained the same or been pushed earlier to pre-pandemic times.

Children waking up at the crack of dawn can have negative impacts on their wellbeing and school performance. This year, a handful of Buggy families attending private schools far from their home opted to move their children to local public schools we service. It was a hard decision, but one that they felt favored their child’s success.

This underscores how traffic can impact families in more ways than one. It also servies as a call to action for private schools to do more to combat school traffic. Mandating car-pooling or using a school bus, or even staggering children’s pickup times based on grade can all help mitigate the congestion. When you think about it--if everyone took Buggy, the roads would be much clearer and, in turn, kids could sleep later and still attend their school of choice.

As a transportation company we try to remain neutral when it comes to school and parent relations. However, we also started this service because we care deeply about families functioning at their highest potential--it’s the highest reward for our hard work. We would support any school’s efforts to improve the traffic at their school.
